A Quote Much Cheaper Than Everyone Else's — the Red-Flag Checklist

When one Chinese quote undercuts the rest, one of five things is true. The checklist that tells you which — before the deposit finds out for you.

Bolang Solutions is a trading company. We chose the model on purpose: it lets us buy across many factories instead of selling you one production line, inspect goods we don't manufacture, and put our own name on every export document as seller of record. The industry's trading-company horror stories are concealment stories — so we run the opposite playbook: registered scope public, address public, and a standing invitation to verify us on gsxt.gov.cn the same way we verify suppliers.

On shipments we trade, the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading carry Bolang as seller of record. One counterparty, legally on the hook, answering in English.

Verify us the way we verify suppliers — our registered name, address and Unified Social Credit Code are published on this site; look us up on gsxt.gov.cn.

A quote 30% under the field is not a bargain until you know why. There are exactly five usual reasons, and only one of them is good news. This is the checklist our own sourcing team runs — published, because the discipline is the product.

The five reasons, checked in order

1 · Different specification — the quiet substitution: 4Cr13 quoted against your 1.4116 inquiry, thinner gauge, smaller size. Check: line-by-line spec match before comparing a single price. 2 · Different basis — EXW dressed as FOB, excluded packaging, unmentioned tooling. Check: same incoterm, same currency, same MOQ, or the numbers aren't comparable at all. 3 · A middleman fishing — quoting low to win the order, then "discovering" increases. Check: registry scope — does this company manufacture anything? 4 · Desperation — a real factory in cash trouble, which becomes your trouble mid-production. Check: penalty and abnormal-operations lists. 5 · Genuine efficiency — it happens: better tooling, cheaper region, aggregated material buying. It survives all four checks above — that survival is the test.

The tell that costs nothing: ask the cheap quoter to re-confirm the full specification in writing, item by item. Reason 1 evaporates on contact with its own paperwork — the most common outcome, and it takes one email.

Common questions

Should I use the cheap quote to pressure others?

Only after it survives the checklist — waving a fictional price at a real factory damages the real relationship.

Isn't cheap just China being cheap?

Between comparable factories on one spec, spreads are modest; a wide outlier is information, not luck.

Can you run this for me?

The registry checks are our verification service; the spec-normalised comparison is what our sourcing reports do by default.
